In February of 2015, Gabe Keen landed a 15.3 lb giant largemouth bass that shattered a 60-year-old state record.  But Lake Chick keeps producing.  FLW and Bassmaster fields continue to see record numbers as pro anglers unlock the mystery of one of the greatest fisheries in the nation. Chickamauga: Facts & Figures
Lake Chickamauga has become “The Land of the Giants” for largemouth bass, rated the second-best bass fishing lake in the U.S by Bassmaster Magazine. The lake continues to produce record-breaking bass for top competitive fishing organizations, pumping out hundreds of 10 pounders each and every year.
  • Construction of Chickamauga Dam began in 1936 and completed in 1940.
  • The dam is 129 ft high and stretches 5,800 ft across the Tennessee River.
  • Chickamauga Reservoir has 784 miles of shoreline and about 36,240 acres of water surface. It has a flood-storage capacity of 345,300 acre-feet.
  • In order to maintain the water depth required for navigation, the minimum winter elevation for Chickamauga Reservoir is 675 feet. The typical summer operating range is between 681.5 and 682.5 feet.​
